How did it start? In 1853 Levi Strauss, a German immigrant, set his sights on the California gold rush. He traveled to California from New York with a load of dry goods, mainly fabrics for his brother. He planned to open a store out west. Levi traveled by boat and sold most of his fabrics on the boat, all he had left was a tough durale- lasting trvanlivy fabric. A fter Levi’s arrival in San Francisco a prospector (person that mines gold)asked Levi:“What ya selling?”. Levi explained him that he had some rough canvas for wagon covers and tents. The prospector said, “You should’ve brought pants!”Levi was wondering..why pants? The reason was: In the hills of California people were mining tirelessly and by this work they were shredding their clothes regularly. Miners couldn’t find durale clothes, taht can withstand the work. The miners were tired of spending their hard earned money on clothes that again in the near time will be damaged. So Levi and a tailor from Nevada had finally developed the concept of strengthening pants with rivets, and in this waythey started a fashion trend that is still hot today.
