Semestrálna práca: Accent and dialect

The purpose of this chapter is to approach the term standard English and its development. According to the English teacher and author of several books George Yule (2006, p. 194), when he investigated the sounds, words and structures of languages, he was concentrating on the features of only one variety, usually called the standard language. This is actually an idealized variety, but exists for most people and the version that is accepted as the official language of their community or country.
