MAN & SOCIETY

SOCIETY - is a group of people who live in the same place. These organised groups created their system of laws on accepted behaviour. Ethics refers to a set of rules what humans should and should not do, what is right or wrong, fair or unfair, what are their obligations and so on.
Ethiquette can be defined as the formal rules of correct or polite behaviour in society or among members of particular profession. There are certain rules how to be polite, greet each other, how to dress and behave at certain occasions like going to the theatre, there are table manners that differ from country to country.
Good manners start at home and have to be taught as soon as the child understands what you are saying, but they need coaching on manners throughout their childhood. Parents should demand the same behaviour at home that they would like their children to display in public. It is a waste of time to demand children certain behaviour for what parents are not good examples. Home example is more important than anything else. Here are some rules that children should be taught:
- wait for your turn, do not interrupt other people when they are speaking
- say please and thank you often
- do not stuff your mouth full of food
- do not make comments about any food being served
- greet everybody you know in a clear loud voice
There are some special conventions for how to behave in certain places:
- women should cover their shoulders and men should take off their hats when entering to a church
- women are wearing a knee-length skirt for business and diplomasy
- people should turn off their cell phones when coming to the theatre or surgery or any public place
SOCIAL PROBLEMS
- differences between social classes
- different groups of people (punks, hippies ...)
- breaking rules, laws, rights
- different opinion on society
- racism
